Manuela Toselli was born in Turin in 1971 and lives and works in Italy. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, where she obtained a Master's Degree in Painting under the supervision of Professor Carlo Di Raco, graduating with highest honors (110/110 cum laude). Prior to this, she graduated from the "Giovanni Sello" State Art Institute in Udine, specializing in textile arts. In her practice, everyday life and the elements that capture her attention become the starting point for a process of investigation developed through a personal language of abstraction. Silk, used either in its pure form or in dialogue with other materials, represents her privileged medium and the constant element in her practice. Her work is organized in series, according to a coherent and recognizable structure that never reaches a conclusion, but instead remains open-ended. In 2005, she participated in the 51st Venice Biennale with the group Temperatura Ambiente, within a project developed in collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice and presented at the Giardini, in the context of experimental and collaborative practices curated by Professor Aldo Grazzi. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including at the Church of San Francesco - Civic Museum of Udine, Magazzini del Sale 3 in Venice, Centro Cultural Borges in Buenos Aires (Argentina), the Whitney Center for the Arts in Pittsfield, Massachusetts (USA), the Royal Villa of Monza, and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice. Her works are held in public and private collections, including the Museo Sale d'Arte in Alessandria (Italy), the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Casa Cavazzini in Udine (Italy), where works were acquired in 2024 through the PAC - Plan for Contemporary Art, and the Laura Krainz-Leupoldt Foundation, with locations in Trieste (Italy) and Munich (Germany).
